A Typical Day at Glen Mhor

7:00 - Mhorning Options. These are run twice a week for those campers who like to get up early. This could involve going for a run, doing yoga, a polar bear dip in the lake or hot chocolate and a story; it changes every week!

7:30 – The bell that sits on top of our lodge rings–it’s time for everyone to wake up!

7:45 - Mhorning Has Broken – this is our time for the whole camp to join together at the flagpole, sing O Canada, share a thought, story or challenge for the day and pray together before the day gets going.

8:00 - Breakfast! We’ll start with grace then dig in to some delicious breakfast options. There is always a breakfast bar with cold cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and fruit. There’s also always a hot meal, like waffles, eggs, breakfast burritos or french toast.

8:45 - Duties! Every cabin spins the duty wheel and then, as a team, goes out and works to help clean up camp. Your cabin’s duty might be to tidy up Music & Drama or to sweep the lodge.

9:00 - Cabin clean time. You’ve helped clean up camp, now it’s time to clean up your cabin.

9:30 – TLC. This stands for Talking and Learning in Christ and it’s our bible study time at Glen Mhor. Everyone starts together in the lodge to sing some songs, then we split off into cabin groups for sharing, playing, crafting and learning through a lesson about Jesus and/or God’s world.

10:30 - First session. As a cabin group, you will travel as a unit to your first session, which your counsellors will have signed up for with your help and input. This could be anything from arts & crafts to zipline!

11:30 - Second session/Skills. Usually, this is the same deal as your first session, only you’ll travel to a new activity, but twice a week we have Skills. This is where you get to choose an activity that you want to get more experience in. Examples might be canoeing, dance, archery or drama.

12:30 - Lunch time! We’ll all gather in the dining hall for grace and another delicious meal. At lunch, we always have great homemade soups to choose from as well as another option, such as subs, pizza or our cook’s amazing macaroni pasta dish (it’s a secret recipe!)

1:30 - Rest Hour. everyone heads back to their cabin to rest, read, write letters, play cards or chat with friends.

2:30 - Third session. You and your cabinmates with head out to your third activity of the day! Remember to re-apply your sunscreen!

3:30 - Fourth session. Your final session of the day with your cabin.

4:30 - Free Swim. This is where everyone at camp heads down to the beach for a swim! You can play in the water with other campers and your counsellor, or build an awesome sandcastle on the beach!

5:30 - Dinner time! Once again, we all come to the dining hall, say grace, and sit down to another great meal. At dinner there’s always a salad bar with lots of wonderful toppings. We always eat something hot and yummy, too. Sometimes we have chili and corn bread, sometimes lasagna, and other times we might have hamburgers or roast beef. Mmm. We also have dessert after dinner, like brownies, cookies, pudding, fruit or chocolatey congo bars (another secret recipe!)

6:30 - Funnengames. Now everyone comes together to play fun group games. These games are really fun and change up quickly–you’ll be on your toes, running around and having a good time with your friends.

7:30 - Evening Programme. Now the whole camp, including every staff member, join to play a huge campwide game. Usually there’s some kind of challenge or problem we all have to solve as we run across camp stealing gold from pirates or searching for kidnapped princesses.

8:30 - Snack. We have an evening snack–just something light to satisfy our tummies. This could be nachos, plain popcorn, pretzels or, on a hot evening, a popsicle. After snack, we brush our teeth then come back to the lodge for…

8:45 - Campfire. Every night we sit together in the lodge for campfire. Usually it’s too hot to have a fire in the fireplace, but once the mosquitoes are gone in August, we head outside and sit together around a real campfire. Here, we sing songs together–we start with loud, rambunctious songs and then slowly get quieter so that by the time we sing the last song, we’re all ready to slip into bed. And we always end the evening the same way by saying, Thanks for the Evening, Friends.

9:30 - Bed time! Your counsellors will get you tucked in for the night and perhaps even sing you a song to help you fall asleep. Get your rest, because there’s a brand new day just around the corner!
