Come to Camp
Whether you’re a recent alumnus or haven’t been back to camp in 30 years–either way, we’d love to have you join us again at camp! Here are a few easy and fun ways to get involved:
Work Weekend
This weekend traditionally happens the weekend following the Victoria Day weekend in May. Come up and get ready to prepare camp for the spring and summer! We’ll put in the docks, haul brush, split wood, make wood chips, clean, organize and work on some special projects (there’s always a project that involves building something and one that involves some artistic talent!) Plus, we’ll supply every delicious meal, a cabin to sleep in and time to relax into the camp way of life. As a bonus, if you have a potential camper of your own who’s not too sure about camp, this is the perfect way to make the introduction–while the adults work around camp, we’ll supply children’s programming and run the weekend as much like camp would run in the summer as possible. To volunteer for this weekend, send an email to Palais at palais@ilovecamp.org. Hope to see you there!
Alumni Weekend
September 23-25, 2011
Have you ever attended Glen Mhor, Iona, Dorothy Lake or Presbyterian Music Camp as a camper, staff member or volunteer? Then this is the weekend for you! Cairn’s alumni weekend is a great, relaxing and fun experience for alumni of all ages and their family. Play in our program areas, enjoy special sessions led by Cairn staff and fellow alumni, eat in the dining hall, sleep in a cabin, sing at campfire and reminisce with old friends. Plus, camp in the fall is absolutely beautiful! We hope you’ll join us for this time of fun and fellowship!
Lead a Session
If you are a professional and/or have lots of experience in an area that might be beneficial at camp, then we’d love to have you come up and lead a session or two! This could mean leading something for our staff during Leadership Training, leading a special event for our staff during Inservice (for our staff alumni, think, “Fun Big Fun”) or leading some sessions for campers during the summer. The possibilities are endless! In the past, we’ve had alumni come up to lead music programmes, sports, take professional photos, lead sessions for staff training on a variety of subjects (i.e.: Children’s Aid Society, Choosing Happiness, Transition Activities) and lead sessions during Alumni Weekend. Why, we’ve even had people just stop by with homemade snacks for our staff to enjoy on opening day! We would love to have you involved; if this interests you, send an email to Palais at palais@ilovecamp.org.
